Stepping up!

Jesse tried taking a few steps and then got side tracked by his napping daddy. So he decided to stop by and try to wake him up.

Jesse is starting to get adventurous and let go to take steps on his own. Last night he took 7 steps unassisted. I didn't get that one on video though. But here are a few of his attempts at the new world of walking.

Random Things

I thought I would post some videos of Jesse from the last few weeks. He is almost 9 months old now.

Sleeping Baby

One day last week, we had an interesting morning where everything seemed to go wrong. Well, Josh and I were extra exhausted that morning and Jesse woke up before we did. I put him on the floor to crawl around as I was trying to wake up. When I picked him up again I noticed that something didn't smell right. Oh yeah, big dirty diaper. So I got him cleaned up and then got myself ready.

As I finished getting dressed, already pressing time to leave, I looked over at Jesse who had a brown spot on his pants. I looked closer. Yup, poop. When I checked his diaper, it was clean. Then I noticed he had some on the sleeves of his shirt. Then I discovered it was smeared in the carpet and some other things on the floor. Earlier in the morning it must have leaked out of his diaper before I changed him. Yuck! So we got that cleaned up. I was in a hurry to get Jesse ready to take to my mom's house.

On Tuesdays she watches him while I am at work. Then Josh hurriedly helped Jesse and I get loaded into the car. It had rained hard the night before. I had about 4 bags in my arms and Josh had Jesse and the booster seat in his. I quickly threw the bags in the back seat to grab the seat so Josh could get Jesse buckled in. And the bag holding Jesse's bottle warmer, baby food, bottles, bibs, etc... didn't quite make it in the car and tumbled into the large mud puddle just below. Deeply annoyed at what I had just done, I looked up and Josh, not seeing what happened, was chatting with the mailman about football. Trying to stay calm, I asked Josh if he would give Jesse to me and go back inside to get something to clean up the muddy stuff. So we got that cleaned up. I got Jesse over to my mom's and hoped that the curse of messes would be broken for the day.

Fun with Cousin Keaghan

My sister, Jennifer, and her six year old son, Keaghan came over on Labor Day. Jennifer said they were just shopping around in Joplin and Keaghan asked to come see his favorite little baby. He really loves on Jesse. It was so cute to watch him try to hug him, and Jesse doesn't like to be constricted so he would wriggle away.

Jesse hasn't learned it isn't nice to pull on people's faces.

Reading Time!

Jesse lost interest, but Keaghan looks surprised by the ending.

Keaghan wanted to get on the play mat with Jesse.

Jesse was wondering, "Will I ever be as big as you?"
