Smallville Obsession

Smallville - It's our new obsession. This summer we have watched the last 5 seasons of the show. Each episode is approximately 42 minutes long and there are 22 episodes per season. So... that's a lot of time.
For those of you who aren't afflicted with Smallville-itis, the show is about Superman's teenage years. It is the prequel to the Daily Planet, glasses-wearing, Lois Lane lovin', Metropolis crime fighting days.
Smallville, KS is where a meteor strike took place, bringing with it... Superbaby. Jonathan and Martha Kent find him and adopt him as their own Clark Kent. Clark develops new abilities or special powers each year. He also begins to learn about his home planet, Krypton and his Achilles' heel, Kryptonite. He naively befriends the millionaire, Lex Luthor, who later becomes his nemesis.
Clark was raised by the Kents to have good moral values and to stand up for what's right. He is always looking for the good in others. And yet, he is forced to lie on a daily basis to those he cares about most. Namely, Lana Lang, his high school love interest. Clark has to protect the secret of who he really is so that the Luthors and other evildoers won't exploit and/or manipulate him for their own gains. The 6th season premiers Thursday, Sept. 28 on the CW @ 7pm CST.

How we met

To answer the ever-popular question, "How did you guys meet?" here it is. Once upon a time, Josh's family lived overseas in Saudi Arabia as tent makers for two years. His dad, Jack, worked as a pharmacist at a large hospital in the capital city. For some unknown reason, the hospital did not renew Jack's contract, so the family had to leave the country. It was time for them to return to the United States and for Jack to find another job. In the teeny tiny village of J-town, a hospital wanted Jack to start work right away. So the family contacted churches in the area to see if anyone had some room for them to stay a short while until they could find their own home. My dad was also a pharmacist and my parents agreed that we had a fully finished basement that would probably benefit this incoming family. So my family met his family. I was in 6th grade at the time and Josh was in 8th grade. We both thought one another was cute, but at that age we didn't say much more than, "Hi." I was the first girl he met here. My best friend, Joelle, and I remember that I said, "I'm going to marry him someday." It was my wishful thinking that God used for His plan. Well, Josh and I went to different schools and different churches after that and didn't really see each other often. Fast-forward to our freshman year of college. In February of 2001, we were both at a homecoming basketball game. I was there to crown the new homecoming queen, and he was there with a college buddy to watch the game. We spotted one another and caught up on each other's news. Joelle and I schemed to invite Josh and his friend over to her house to watch a movie after the game. Well, they got very lost trying to find the house and saw only the last 20-30 minutes of the movie. But the spark was there for both of us. I decided to make a bold move and email him. It simply said, "It was great to see you. Give me a call sometime." Needless to say, he called me and we've been together ever since. We plan to live happily ever after. The End.

My first time

I guess I'm a little slow in my techno-savy development. This is my first attempt at a blog. How am I doing so far? I can only assume that you need to be an interesting person who is good with words and has lots of fascinating things going on in your life to write a great blog. If that's what you're looking for.... Pick a new blog to read. I hear that Joelle has some great insights on pomegranites on her blog. Just writing about what's going on in life is good enough, or so I hear. In that case, I will make an attempt.
